Wood flooring being laid by InnGó

Wood flooring

We install new wood flooring and give older floors a second life through sanding and finishing. We work with solid and engineered flooring in all the common species.

Installation methods

Flooring is laid floating, glued down or on battens. Floating installation is the most common method today, while solid wood flooring remains highly popular. The method depends on the subfloor, the species and how the room is used.

Wood species

We work with oak, beech, ash, pine and maple. Each species has its own grain, hardness and colour, which changes gently over time.

Preparation and subfloor

The subfloor must be clean and at the correct moisture level before flooring is laid. In apartment buildings, impact sound between floors is limited to 63 dB, so cork damping is often required beneath glued-down flooring.

Sanding

Wood floors lose their appearance over ten to fifteen years even with good care. With professional sanding machines we bring the floor back to its original state and prepare it for oil or lacquer.

Oil finish

An oiled floor has a matte, soft surface. Newly sanded floors receive two to three coats of oil.

Lacquering

We use water-based, oil-based or solvent-based lacquer. Water-based lacquer is the more environmentally friendly option and suits most homes.

Staining

Wood floors can be stained, including white and black, changing the character of a room without replacing the floor itself.

Edges and skirting

Skirting boards call for precise work. A modern alternative is to fill the gaps with colour-matched sealant instead of skirting, for a cleaner and quieter finish.
